Kilometre Zero Monument, Surabaya’s New Selfie Spot You Shouldn’t Miss

iniSURABAYA – Surabaya has a brand new destination, Kilometre Zero Monument. A monument that built right in front of the East Java Governor office’s garden also equipped with a gigantic relief by I Nyoman Nuarta, an artist from Bali.

A relief which combines Karapan Sapi (Bull Races) from Madura, Remo dance from Surabaya and Gandrung dance from Banyuwangi symbolise the East Java’s authentic culture. The relief that spent Rp 6,9 billion was made of copper to avoid from rusting.

The existence of the Kilometre Zero Monument has succeed to draw citizens to stop and capture some pictures there. This is why this monument is never seem empty.

Especially when the evening comes, this monument will steal the passerby’s attention with its lamp. This has become the reason of the local artists to keep coming back there to draw the beauty of this monument.

“Since I heard about this new monument got me wonder. That’s why I bring my family here to see it and to take pictures too,” said Ayu who resides in Perak.

A student of the University of 17 August 1945, Difa Fatma was as curious as Ayu. She was roaming around the city to release stress when she noticed the new monument.

“Because I can’t go outside the city during this holiday, so I just go around Surabaya. It took me by surprise when I coincidentally saw this magnificent relief for the first time. So I pulled over to look around a bit closer,” she said. sum
