iniSURABAYA – In order to celebrate the National Hero’s Day (11/10), House of Sampoerna launched a special thematic tour named ‘Surabaya Melawan’ (Surabaya strikes back) for Surabaya Heritage Track (SHT). For the whole month, starting from November 13th to December 13th 2018, SHT bus tour will bring tourists to track the series of events before the big war on November 10th, 1945.
The historical places will be visited by the tourists are PT. Pertamina EP Aset 4 Building and SKK Migas Jabanusa which was formerly an office of Bataafsche Petroleum Maatschappij and then Taman Sejarah (historical park) also Jembatan Merah (red bridge).
“This thematic tour by SHT will only be held on special events to introduce not just about the history of Surabaya but also the buildings and areas which also had witnessed the most important history of the city,” said Rani Anggraini the Manager of House of Sampoerna.
According to Rani, the SHT welcome any tourists who wanted to enjoy the free tour inside the city on Tuesday to Thursday from 10.00 to 11.30.
“The tourists not only can enjoy the historically iconic cultural heritage buildings, but also can achieve new knowledge and experience as well,” she said. sum

This building was occupied by allied forces under the leadership of Colonel Pugh. Colonel Pugh instructed his troops to seize the weapons of the Surabaya fighters. The instructions caused anger to the Surabaya people that led to a war on 28-30 October 1945 which ended with the death of Brigadier General Mallaby
– History Park and Red Bridge
On October 30, 1945 after negotiations were held at the Governor’s Office, Surabaya and Allied leaders approached objects that were still in battle and intended to stop the war. When he arrived at the Internatio compound, there was armed contact between the youth and the Allied forces, this resulted in Mallaby’s death.
