iniSURABAYA – Wednesday (9/26/2018), Google Street View launched a special panorama collection of Lake Toba which includes the view of Samosir Island and along the Lake Toba shoreline. It took eight days to do the panorama photo session and now people all over the world are enable to access and enjoy the view on Google Street View in all kinds of devices.
The panorama photo session itself was taken during July, 30th to August, 7th 2018, using the tracker device which equipped by 15 cameras with 360 degree view. The tracker device installed on the people of Batak tribe’s traditional boats to allow the visitors explore more about the world’s biggest volcanic lake, also to welcome them visiting Gantung stone in Parapat and Situmurun waterfall in Binangalom.
“This is part of Google’s commitment to support the effort of the government promoting the beauty of Lake Toba, as one of the world’s 10th priority tourism destination,” stated Public Policy Senior Analyst, Google Indonesia, Ryan Rahardjo.
Ryan Rahardjo is also hoping that this special panorama collection of Lake Toba could inspire many tourists both domestic and foreign to visit Lake Toba. Other than launching the Street View Lake Toba, Google also helps Lake Toba local entrepreneurs to make them appear on the Google Search through Google Business program.
“We do hope, our initiative will not just improve the tourism sector but also propel the local economic growth in Indonesia through digital platform,” he added.
Google Street View Special Collect Lake Toba edition was fully welcomed by the local government. Ministry of Tourism, Arief Yahya, were specially appreciating Google for making Indonesia’s tourism destinations become virtually accessible.
“We are glad Google chose Lake Toba as one of the location for Street View Special Collect that provides the beauty of Lake Toba panorama to the whole world,” said Arief Yahya.
He also believes that Street View will improve Indonesia’s tourism and make it viral thus the foreigners and inverstor have no slight doubt at all to visit and invest in Lake Toba, “We hope this will improve the tourists’ visitation to Lake Toba,” he stated.
Arief Yahya firmly said that people all over the world should try to enjoy the beauty of Lake Toba and its surroundings, and now it’s coming handy on Google Street View, “Google has also helped and trained the local traders in Lake Toba to go digital which will bring so much benefit for them also for the growth of the tourism sector, and we’re really grateful for it,” he added. sum
